Zongmeng Li: Preparing For The New Journey

Zongmeng Li completed all 5 SOPA courses and is an enthusiastic ambassador for the program. She is a Biotechnologist from China, and her dream was to explore the world while searching for her dream job as a Quality Assurance and Quality Control specialist in a food company. She was drawn to Canada as its integrated, “family feel” communities appealed to her lifestyle. When preparing for the move, her research brought her to SOPA, the program immediately gave her a great first impression of Canada, and it was a reassuring, welcoming presence.

From Pre-arrival to Post-arrival to Job

Before arriving, Mussarat and her husband Javed found the SOPA program online. They felt that it would help them enhance their job search preparations. They both took several classes, but found Job Search Strategies to be the most beneficial. Job Search Strategies course showed them the Canadian styles of resumes, and enhanced their knowledge of interview tactics.

Q: What did you learn from your SOPA course that has made you better prepared to work in Canada?

A: I learned a lot. But the part of how to target cover letters and resumes was fantastic for me.
