Before we start planning for the future, let’s take a moment to celebrate the highlights of 2024 at SOPA. This year was filled with inspiring stories, meaningful connections, and remarkable successes. We’re deeply grateful to all our clients who placed their trust in us as they embarked on their new beginnings in Canada. A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated SOPA teams across the country for providing personalized support and guidance to ensure every newcomer’s success.

Major Milestones of 2024

1. Launch of Foreign Credential Recognition (FCR) Navigator Service
This year, we introduced the FCR Navigator service to help clients in regulated professions navigate the complexities of credential recognition. FCR Navigators provide expert guidance on licensure pathways, connect clients with valuable resources, facilitate information sessions tailored for regulated professions, and offer mentorship opportunities. With two dedicated navigators, one covering New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Prince Edward Island, and the other supporting Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Yukon, this service has already begun making a difference in helping newcomers embark on their professional journeys with confidence.

2. Introduction of Soft Skills Live Workshops
In addition to our popular four Soft Skills courses, we launched live workshops for those who prefer an interactive approach to learning. Facilitated by experienced SOPA soft-skills instructors, these sessions offered clients the chance to explore essential workplace skills, engage in discussions, and interact with peers, enriching their learning experience and preparation for the Canadian workplace.

3. Empowering Job Seekers Through Events
This year, SOPA hosted two successful virtual job fairs and a variety of webinars designed to empower our clients. These events equipped participants with the tools, confidence, and insights to navigate the Canadian job market. From resume-building tips to live networking opportunities with employers, these initiatives played a vital role in preparing our clients to thrive in Canadian workplaces.

4. Strengthening Connections Across Canada
Although our teams operate from different provinces, we had the opportunity to meet in person this year to share best practices, exchange knowledge, and strengthen our collaborative efforts. These face-to-face interactions reinvigorated our mission to provide exceptional support for newcomers.
