The earlier you join us, the more we can do for your career. Some professions allow part of the credential recognition process — and in some cases, even certain exams — to be completed before you arrive, so the sooner you connect with an FCR Specialist, the sooner you can get started. And if you’re in a regulated profession and still deciding whether to pursue it or explore an alternative path, that decision takes time too. Either way, joining early and staying engaged with your sessions means we can support you further along before you even land in Canada.

Once you’re referred to FCR Counselling, you’ll receive an email from your FCR Specialist asking you to book an appointment at a date and time that works for you. Plans can change, and that’s okay — but please let us know as soon as possible if you need to reschedule. SOPA supports many newcomers, and a missed appointment without notice means another client loses the chance to use that time slot.

✅ This is part of your SOPA journey. Together, our courses, workshops, counselling services, employment supports, and community connections are here to help you build the knowledge, confidence, and skills you need to settle and thrive in Canada.
